‘A Coming Together of Sorts’

Come and join us in Leicester on 24 September for a joint Betjeman and Philip Larkin societies event as part of the Larkin 100 celebrations.
You may have seen in the press and other media that it is the 100th Anniversary of the birth of poet Philip Larkin, who regarded his poetry as having been influenced by Betjeman and was a great supporter of JB. Thanks to the Shires Branch of the Society we have been able to arrange a joint meeting with the Philip Larkin Society in Leicester on 24 September. Larkin worked at Leicester University and one of his key influences, Monica Jones was a lecturer there, and his girlfriend. This is the only event to mark Larkin’s association with the city and we have a distinguished panel of speakers. Please note the venue is easy to get to being 100 yards from the railway station and with free car parking.
The flyer below gives details of the event and how to book, which is also on the Events page of the website, and we hope is self explanatory. Please contact the Society if you have any queries about the event.
