The Hon James Stourton provided a magisterial lecture on the life of Kenneth Clark with a focus on his friendship and collaborations with John Betjeman.
Stourton, whose authorised biography will be published in October 2016, took his audience on a journey from Clark’s childhood to Oxford, where he met Betjeman. Both were identified as talented undergraduates by Maurice Bowra, Warden of Wadham. Stourton detailed the many successes and achievements of Clark’s career and the sometimes complex nature of his personal life.
