The latest Newsletter January 2020 – Number 107, includes a report on the Society’s concern over the future of the Whitechapel Bell Foundry site.  As the article makes clear, there are important links between the foundry and John Betjeman. The Society wrote to The Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government supporting the proposal to “call-in” the planning applications and hold  public inquiry.

We were delighted to hear on 22 January that the applications have been “called-in” and that a public inquiry will be held in due course. We will keep members informed and updated once more details of the arrangements for the public inquiry are known.
