Sadly we have had to cancel the Society’s AGM which was to be held on Saturday 10 July at Marlborough College. The letter to members below sets out the situation in full. It is hoped to hold a virtual AGM in the Autumn.
Dear Betjeman Society Member
Betjeman Society AGM
With regret we must inform you that our Annual General Meeting due to be held on 10 July has had to be cancelled following the decision taken by the Government to extend public gathering restrictions until 19 July 2021. Marlborough College can no longer host us because of this and have cancelled our booking. We hope to hold a virtual AGM by Zoom in the Autumn, the date of which will be notified in the September Newsletter.
I am sure most of you would have realised cancellation would be inevitable, but I also take the opportunity to remind you that we expect to hold the joint Betjeman Birthday Party and Bevis Hillier’s much postponed 80/81st Birthday Party so please proceed with booking if you can when we get the go ahead to meet socially on the target date of 19 July! Those of you who had sent cheques for the AGM will have them returned.
The Council of The Betjeman Society wishes you all good health and hopes you can make the most of the summer, particularly after 19 July.
Yours in Betjeman
Steve Jackson
Hon Secretary
