The Betjeman Society has joined the Liverpool Street Station Campaign Committee (LISSCA), continuing Sir John Betjeman’s history of campaigning for Victorian and Edwardian heritage and his work with the Victorian Society. Read more here. The Council for British Archaeology, another amenity society, has also joined the campaign.
The LISSCA Committee brings together an unprecedented number of heritage and conservation organisations and charities, including Save Britain’s Heritage, The Twentieth Century Society, Historic Buildings & Places, The Georgian Group, The Spitalfields Trust, Civic Voice, London Historians, The Betjeman Society, The Council for British Archaeology, and The Victorian Society chairing.
The campaign to Save Liverpool Street Station is headed by the Society’s President Griff Rhys Jones, who is now also President of LISSCA. You can read more about the launch here
The petition against the plans has now garnered over 7,500 signatures. Our next goal is to gather 10,000 signatures and hopefully many more. We would encourage readers to sign the petition to keep up to date with the campaign and share it so others can sign too. |
