Society AGM and tour of London Liverpool Street Station
The Society’s 2024 AGM will be held at St Botolph without Bishopsgate Church, Bishopsgate, London EC2M 3TL in the adjacent church hall on Saturday 13th July at 11.00 for 11.30 with refreshments on arrival.
After a buffet lunch, at about 2.00pm our member, Don Kennedy, will lead a tour of nearby Liverpool Street Station.
We want to give members another chance to see Liverpool Street Station and explain why we are so concerned about the proposals to submerge it under a tower block. Don is a mine of information, and he will also use the tour to highlight other aspects of the station’s history, including its role in being the terminal where 669 Jewish children saved by Sir Nicholas Winton arrived in London, and where there are now two monuments to this remarkable humanitarian achievement. This is the subject of a new film with Sir Anthony Hopkins in the main role as Sir Nicholas Winton.
The cost is £30 per person. For details of how to book please scroll to the bottom of this page and follow the instructions. Members wishing to attend the AGM only without staying for lunch and the tour can do so without charge.
